ice is melting

Today is Friday

We are still out of school because of the ice and snow, but it is melting now and the temperatures are supposed to be warm this weekend, so it should be gone soon. :winter2:
I have been doing some homework and some work for the pre-school that I can do on the computer these past couple of days, so I have done a few things that are productive. I also washed the blankets for the beds and did our laundry.
Josh was able to go to his Sylvan tutoring last night. He loves it there. I was working with him the other night on some reading concepts and he did really good, so I think they are helping him a lot.
Karl picked up some food for the Superbowl last night. We are all set.
It has been nice being off this week, but we have to make all of those days up, so that kind of stinks. Have a nice weekend. :winter1:

ice day

Today is Tuesday

We are all home today because of the ice. There is not a lot out there, but enough to cause the roads to be awful. It is sleeting as I write this, which is better than the freezing rain we had all evening.
The ice started yesterday about 2 PM. The schools saw it coming and started dismissing, so we got to come home at 2PM. My college class was canceled also, so I will not have to worry about missing a class because I was not going even if they did have class last night because of the ice. I am going to get the homework done she had planned for next week just to keep up to date.
Karl is watching Superbowl interviews. Mandy keeps wanting to go out and play in the ice. :corgirun: We are just trying to stay warm. Have a nice day!! :winter1:

ice on the way?

Today is Sunday

There is not too much new here at our house. We stay busy with Josh’s tutoring during the week. He is doing good and is liking it. We get to do a lot of shopping when he is at tutoring.
I did not have class last week because of MLK day, but I did have to work to make up a snow day. It was a wonderful day. The kids were all there except for a few, but it was so peaceful. It is fun when the kids are like that and we just get to watch them play. It is not like that very often.
Well, there is a weather system coming in and they are saying we may get some ice. I am not too worried about it, but it is supposed to start when I am at my class on Monday night. I am praying that it starts before I have to go, in which case I will stay home or start after my class is over. I do not want to try to drive home on icy roads at 8:30 PM.
If we have a snow day, I will try to post an update. Have a nice week!! :winter2:

this and that

Today is Saturday

I love my new class. It is called Fundamentals of Reading Instruction. We will be doing all kinds of fun things in that class and the teacher is really good.
Josh is still enjoying his tutoring. He has done 8 hours now.
It was really cold this week and our pipes froze. I took Josh to tutoring and Karl and his dad worked on them, but they kept cracking. We ended up going over to take a shower at his parents house yesterday morning. Karl stayed home to work on the pipes. They are fixed now. I am so glad. They did this about 5 years ago. The joys of living in an old house. :cold:
It was a very busy week at the pre-school. It will be busy this week too. We have some training we have to go to on Friday.
Karl’s ankle is better. The work for the construction workers has been crazy. They have been laying off workers left and right. They had 300 employees over the summer and now have around 60. The work is getting finished and there is nothing for them to do. They are trying to move the workers around to keep them working.
I watched President Bush’s Farewell speech this week. It was good. I am not watching American Idol, we are not home and we are way too busy.
I hope you are all doing good. I work on Martin Luther King Jr. day to make up a snow day, so I will not be off to visit. Have a great week!!

catch-up

Today is Sunday

Today we are going to church and then my parents are going to pick up Josh and take him out for a while when we get back home. I will clean house and do laundry, get ready to go back to work and I also start my college class this week. It is on Monday nights.
Josh’s tutoring is going good so far. He loves the teachers there at Sylvan. He is so excited to go. I am so glad. While Josh was in tutoring this week Karl and I did some shopping at Kohl’s. I got a new pair of jeans and a pair of corduroy pants too. We also got Josh a new coat, it is a red Nike coat…and we got him some Sketchers tennis shoes. We guessed the size, we were right though and he loves the coat and the shoes too. The next night we went grocery shopping. Josh goes to tutoring 2 nights a week. We are going to try to do the grocery shopping in that time so Josh does not have to go. He does not enjoy going shopping.
We got 3 new students at the pre-school this week. We have 13 in our morning class and 7 in our afternoon class. The afternoon class though smaller has it’s own challenges. It is not an easy day for us. I am sure time will go fast with so many kids and such busy evenings. It will be Spring Break before we know it..LOL!!! :winter2:
Karl is doing good with his job too. He has a sprained ankle, but is doing ok. He sprained it Friday.
That is a quick catch-up of our week. I will try to post again next weekend. Have a nice week!!

back to work

Today is Tuesday

I was so tired on Monday for the first day back to school. The kids were tired too. They were very good though. My sleep pattern is all off. I hope I do better today. We hit the ground running though and the kids and I worked one on one with their goals. They do so well when it comes to that stuff, they just love to learn. I am so glad. That makes my job so much easier. We are getting three more children. I think that brings us to 15. There are so many kids this year.
Josh starts his tutoring tomorrow night. He goes Wednesday and Thursday nights. I will let you all know how it goes.
I miss visiting blogs already. I may try to visit after school this evening if I am not too tired. Have a super day!!

church

Today is Sunday

Today we are going to church and then to Wal~Mart to pick up some groceries to get the week started.
I ended up washing rugs and curtains yesterday. The curtains were dusty, so I am glad they are cleaned now. Today I need to wash clothes and finish cleaning the house. The temperature got up to 72º yesterday, it was wonderful outside!! Today we are not getting out of the 30’s. :winter1:
I cannot believe my vacation is over. I have had so much fun visiting all of you. I do not start back to college classes until the 12th, so I should be able to visit a little bit until then and hopefully I will not be so busy during the semster. I better get moving. Have a great day!!
